Enhancements to Life Fitness treadmills benefit facilities and users |
LAS VEGAS – March 21, 2006 – Life Fitness, the leading manufacturer of a full line of commercial cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, today at IHRSA announced enhancements to four of its fitness facility treadmills. The enhancements, all designed to make the treadmills easier than ever to own and use, place the most-used controls within easy reach of the exerciser, stop the treadmill when the user steps off the deck and indicate when the belt needs to be checked. In addition, higher maximum speeds on five treadmills will help facilities attract and retain exercisers with more demanding treadmill usage requirements.
“Treadmills are the most popular cardiovascular equipment, and facilities want treadmills that are easy for exercisers to use,” said Bob Quast, senior director, product management and marketing, Life Fitness. “These enhancements are a reflection of our continued efforts to improve our treadmills with features that directly benefit facility owners and managers and help them attract and retain a variety of users.”
Activity Zone on Ergonomically Correct Handlebars – 95Ti, 95Te, 97Ti, 97Te
The new Activity Zone control pad on the 95Ti, 95Te, 97Ti and 97Te is conveniently located on the ergonomically correct handlebars and places the most-used controls within easy reach of the user. The controls include the Quick Start button, which lets exercisers quickly begin working out, and the Incline Up/Down and Speed Up/Down buttons, which allow users to easily make changes in these functions while exercising.
In addition, the Activity Zone on the 95Ti and 97Ti enables exercisers to immediately begin working out at a desired speed with the push of a button. These Go System buttons include Walk (2 mph), Jog (4 mph) and Run (6 mph). (Walk, Jog and Run Go System functionality already is available on the 95Te and 97Te through their touch-screen LCD consoles.)
Stride Sensor – 95Ti, 95Te, 97Ti, 97Te
The new Stride Sensor on the 95Ti, 95Te, 97Ti and 97Te detects whether a user is on the treadmill belt by sensing deck deflection. If the exerciser steps off the belt during a workout, the Stride Sensor is triggered, and after a brief delay, power to the belt is shut off.
Proactive Belt-Wear Notification – 95Ti, 95Te, 97Ti, 97Te
Knowing when to check a treadmill’s belt can be challenging for facility managers. Now, the Life Fitness 95Ti, 95Te, 97Ti and 97Te treadmills help eliminate the guesswork with Proactive Belt-Wear Notification. With this feature, regular system diagnostics alert facility managers to check for belt wear. In addition, managers may select an option to have the LED light (95Ti and 97Ti) or LCD icon (95Te and 97Te) on the product console automatically indicate that the belt should be checked.
Increased Speed – 93T, 95Ti, 95Te, 97Ti, 97Te
For users with more demanding treadmill usage requirements, Life Fitness has increased the maximum speed on five of its commercial treadmills:
- 93T – maximum speed is now 12 mph (previous maximum speed was 10 mph);
- 95Ti and 95Te – maximum speed is now 14 mph (previous maximum speed was 12 mph); and
- 97Ti and 97Te – maximum speed is now 16 mph (previous maximum speed was 15 mph).
