Life Fitness contributes more than $40,000 for the fight against cardiovascular diseases

SCHILLER PARK, Ill. – Oct. 4, 2004 – Life Fitness, the leading manufacturer of a full line of cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, is proud to announce that 153 of its Schiller Park, Ill., and Franklin Park, Ill., employees raised more than $40,000 to help prevent, treat and defeat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases by participating in the American Heart Association’s (AHA) 2004 fund-raising efforts.

Employees from various departments of Life Fitness solicited pledges from friends and family members and then participated in a Sept. 12 three-mile walk at the College of DuPage outside of Chicago in Glen Ellyn, Ill. In addition, during the months and weeks before the walk, Life Fitness employees held bake sales and sold T-shirts to raise funds. Life Fitness’ goal was to obtain contributions totaling $15,000, but in the end, the company collected more than $40,000 which will help support research and community education about heart disease and stroke, the nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers.

“For the second consecutive year, Life Fitness has participated in the AHA’s fund-raising efforts, and we are happy to lend our efforts to such an important cause,” said Kevin Grodzki, Life Fitness president. “Our organizations share a common goal of creating opportunities for people around the world to live longer, healthier, more productive lives. Together, the AHA and Life Fitness can be a powerful force in achieving this common goal.”

As the signature fund-raising event for the American Heart Association, the American Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun family environment. More than 750,000 walkers are expected to participate in the more than 600 American Heart Walks being held around the United States by the American Heart Association in 2004. Additional information about the events can be found online at www.americanheart.org.

“Life Fitness would like to thank the following vendors for their support in helping us surpass our goal: Argus Press, CIT Group, Fitjoy Sourcing and Development Co., Panalpina, Peer Bearing Company, Prince Industries, Sigmatron, Veterans Trucking and Victor Plastics,” Grodzki said.
